Buzz for Chrome privacy

Last updated October 7, 2026

Buzz finds the right people on the company page you ask it to inspect. In Gmail and Outlook, one small Buzz button opens the same private workspace without reading your mailbox.

What Buzz reads

Buzz reads only the page you are looking at, and only while the Buzz side panel is open:

  • On a company website, the web address of that tab so Buzz knows the company domain.
  • On a LinkedIn profile, the person's name, headline and current company shown on screen.
  • On a LinkedIn company page, the company name and website shown on screen.
  • On Gmail and Outlook, nothing from the mailbox page. Buzz adds one button that opens the side panel after you click it.

Buzz does not read other tabs, email messages, recipients, form fields, passwords or a history of the pages you visit. It never clicks, scrolls, visits, messages or connects with anyone for you.

What Buzz sends

Buzz sends the current lookup to app.buzzlist.io so Buzzlist can show matching people from the Buzzlist database. A lookup contains the company domain, or the visible name, headline and company described above. A search you type inside the Gmail or Outlook workspace contains only the company and title you entered. The lookup is not stored with the page, domain or person you viewed.

When you tap Save, Reveal or Write email, Buzz sends that request to your own Buzzlist account. Save and Reveal may use contact credits on your plan. Buzz always shows the cost and asks you to confirm first.

When you choose Open Gmail or Open Outlook on a revealed contact, Buzz opens one new-message page with that revealed address filled in. Buzz does not receive mailbox access, read the draft or send it.

What stays in your browser

Buzz stores one connection key and its expiration date in Chrome's extension storage so you do not have to sign in whenever the panel opens. The key lasts up to 14 days. Buzzlist stores only a one way hash of it.

What Buzz never does

  • Sell your information or use it for advertising.
  • Use the page you inspect for anything unrelated to finding and saving people for you.
  • Show contact details before you tap Reveal and confirm.
  • Send a LinkedIn message, connection request or email without your separate action in Buzzlist.
  • Read, watch or synchronize a Gmail or Outlook inbox.

Your choices

  • Close the side panel and Buzz reads nothing.
  • Disconnect this browser from the panel or from Account, Connections. Its key stops working immediately.
  • Remove the extension to delete everything Buzz stored in Chrome.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Buzz's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
